This beautiful park is still yet to be discovered by many residents and can go unnoticed by visitors. but it really is worth a visit.

Opened in June 2009, El Duque park in Sabinillas, has already won an award. The park is situated near to the El Duque urbanisation near the back of Mercadonna. Heading west on the Sabinillas slip road turn right at the Chinese restaurant near the English Bookshop, go straight across the roundabout and  you will see the park on your left. There is usually always somewhere to park on the street.

There is plenty to keep the kids amused, a huge boat shaped play area with climbing frames and slides for  the older children and a similar smaller play area  for the little ones. Everything is aimed at the children, from statues of Snow White and the 7 dwarfs to toilets situated in toadstall shaped buildings!

On top of all this, there is also adult exercise equipment and a crazy golf course (you must provide your own clubs and balls). There is a stream running through the park which leads into a large pond with bridges and a gazebo. A pleasant place to sit in the shade if you need to escape the summer sun.

Finally, they have also included an open air theatre shaped like a roman amplitheatre where musical, dance and theatrical events are held during the year.

The park is open 9am to 9pm during the winter but does tend to close for a few hours, between 2pm and 5pm during July and August.

Pack a picnic and enjoy a few hours at the park, a pleasant alternative to the beach and best of all – it’s free!!!
