25,000m3 of sand deposited onto Sabinillas beaches

Throughout the winter, our coastline has suffered from strong “levante” winds which has resulted in the beach eroding and a subsequent loss of sand. This is now being rectified with 25,000m3 of sand being taken from the beach to the east of Duquesa port, and spread along  Sabinillas beach.

Manilva’s beach department have said that the works will take approximately 5 days and that the bill will be paid for by the Malaga coastal authorites. They have apologized for the fact that it is being done so late in the year as may tourists are already enjoying the beaches….but us residents and Spanish know that summer doesn’t officially start until after San Juan on 23rd June!
