Trip to the famous Cadiz Carnival

The delegation of Culture has organised a trip to Cadiz on Sunday 10th February to see the Gran Cabalgata (Great Parade)  and the “Carrusel de Coros” of the Cadiz carnival.  Many towns and cities have “Carnival” fiestas during February but certainly, the most famous and well known is the Cadiz Carnival. The whole city participates in the carnival which generally lasts for more than two weeks each February and many people travel from further afield to experience the party atmosphere and entertainment.

Normally fancy dress is obligatory at the Cadiz Carnival and you will stick out if you don’t dress it… Whether you do it alone, as a couple or in a group, it is essential to wear a costume, at least on the first Saturday and during the parades. The public play a great part in the parades and become actively involved.

The price of the trip is €12 per person which includes transport and breakfast. The coach will leave Manilva (from the roundabout at the entrance to Manilva) at 8am, the pick up at Sabinillas and Castillo before continuing onto Cadiz. The return journey is scheduled for 10pm or once the parades have finished (which means it will probably be later than 10pm!!)

Places are limited so book early. Most of the humour and songs are in quite satirical Spanish but even if you can’t 100% understand everything, it’s worth going for the atmosphere. More details available from the cultural department in Manilva or from the Foreign Residents in the castle at Castillo.
