Gibraltar’s first Mega concert will take place on September 8th and will be headlined by Jessie J. The concert is being held at the Victoria Stadium (If you don’t know it, you can’t miss it – it’s at the end of the runway!) which may seem a bit of a come down from the Olympic stadium where Jessie J performed in the closing ceremony of the olympics.

Als0 lined up to appear is Ali Campbell’s UB40.  That will take all the parents back to their youth – come on, we all remember “Red, Red wine”!!
As well as the above, three local bands will also feature: Noiz, Jetstream and Atomica 4.
Tickets are selling fast,  but there are still some available  from various outlets including  ticketmaster, various Carrefour supermarkets in Spain and fnac at the La Cañada shopping centre.  Ticket prices start from 30GBP. There are a few VIP ticket packages priced at 100GBP but these are not available until 31st August.
The absolute best bit for parents is that kids under 12 go free… but they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You have to buy your ticket then collect the child’s ticket afterwards. See below for procedure:-
Any parent or legal guardian of a child/children aged 12 or under, who has bought a ticket to the Festival, who wishes to take their child/children to the festival, must collect the children’s tickets from the John Mackintosh Hall ticket office AT 308 Main Street Gibraltar. This can be done on weekdays between 10am and 2pm as from Tuesday 21st August 2012.
You must be able to prove at the ticket office, with original documentation, that you are in fact the parent or legal guardian of the child/children, as well as the age of the child/children. The ticket to the festival must also be produced at the ticket office.
Gates open at 4pm so get there early. It can be a bit of a nightmare to get into Gibraltar and park on a normal Saturday, let alone when there is a “Mega Concert” on so be prepared. Maybe leave the car in La Linea and walk across the border.
This is the first “Mega” concert and the Gibraltar government are hoping to make these concerts an annual event…mmm Wonder who’ll be on next year?!!
