Verbana Santa Ana – Manilva’s saints day

This Thursday 26th July Manilva celebrates Verbana Santa Ana,  its patron saint with a day of processions, music, games and partying in  Calle Mar in Manilva Town.

As with every Spanish festival, we will be woken at 8am by the sound of rockets….The actual festivities begin at 11 am with traditional and games  (more for the children )

At 7 pm there will be a Holy Mass at the Santa Ana Church followed by a procession where the statue of the virgin is carried through the town’s streets.

From 10 pm there will be music and dancing with the group “Bahia Club” which will go on until the early hours of the morning.

The Santa Ana church in Manilva dates from the 17th century and is one of the oldest churches in the area. It’s well worth a visit, it’s a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside and is really rather beautiful inside with some decorative stained glass windows. Pop along to one of the masses or just a Sunday service. The Manilva residents are very welcoming…
